Local Republicans got a whirlwind visit from Gov. Matt Blunt and two GOP legislative leaders Friday.
The governor, Sen. Michael Gibbons, R-Kirkwood and Senate president pro tem, and Speaker of the House Rep. Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, came to pump up about 40 ardent supporters.
"By reaching out to communities like St. Joseph," Mr. Jetton said, "Republicans have shown how committed we are to improving Missouri's economy by implementing policies both statewide and in local areas."
The governor spoke about accomplishments during the last two years while Republicans have been in charge. He reminded supporters of the turnaround in Missouri's finances that included a balanced budget, budget surplus and no new taxes.
