Early finish a lifesaver

The lives of 14 Missourians have been saved as a result of the state’s Transportation Department’s efforts to finish a major highway improvement program a year ahead of schedule.

The agency originally had planned to finish the program by 2007 but accepted a challenge from Gov. Matt Blunt to finish the plan a year early.
