SPRINGFIELD, Missouri, October 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt vowed Tuesday to work “to stand up for the sanctity of life,” beginning by calling for a conscience clause that would allow pharmacists to be exempt from filling prescriptions for the abortifacient morning-after pill.
“I will continue to seek pro-life laws from the Legislature,” he said, as reported by stltoday.com. Govenor Blunt said his desire to work for life was counter to the pro-death message engendered by “Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and activist judges.”
The comments were part of a speech Blunt made to thousands of people gathered at the Second Baptist Church he attends for the annual meeting of the Missouri Baptist Convention.
